Power of Language

The time/event that I knew the “power of language” was when Martin Luther King Jr gave his “I Have a Dream”. I wasn’t alive when he publicly spoke it, but it has had an affect on the world ever since. He said in his speech, “ I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed — we hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.” He was a brave African American man who spoke up against racial inequality when everyone else was scared to. The reason why this event was when I knew the power of language is because even though it was 60 years ago it still has affects and is brought up. This event also holds so much power because at his speech, he made people change and treat everyone more equally than what they were before his speech. It didn’t matter as much what the color of your skin was after he publicly said his speech.
