My Opinion on Ghosts

GHOSTS

When I think of ghosts, I think of haunting and horror movies. There are so many movies with ghosts and the most popular one is titled “Ghostbusters”. I think that this movie isn’t how real ghosts are. They aren’t white blobs that destroy things and terrorize peoples lives. There are so many shows nowadays that look so fake about ghosts and how people are trying to track them down and take a picture of them. The way they take pictures of a ghost is if a white pixel or blob appears in the picture.  I don’t think that people are able to get pictures of ghosts or track them down, because I think they come up when they are needed. I think ghosts are real, and they are able to haunt people, but also be good. All over TikTok there are videos of ghost sightings, and the video that stuck with me was a video of a dog sitting in his crate and his collar just starts coming off and nobody is touching him or even around him. Maybe the ghost was trying to warn the owner or tell them something about the dog. There is also a new show on Netflix called Archive81 and it is about a haunted building and there is a God that is a ghost and they were trying to bring him back. I think people might actually act like they did in the show and worship ghosts. For me, I believe in hauntings, but I feel like there could be good hauntings. For example, if a family member passes away and you start seeing signs of that person or lots of things that remind you of them, then I think that is their ghost or spirit trying to communicate with you. Communication can be from showing signs of them, turning on lights, even maybe doing something that might scare the person.

  1. Yes! I so agree that our cultural understanding of ghosts is so negative. I've learned that other cultures, such as Chinese culture, see ghosts as less threatenig. If we think of ghosts as people who were once alive, why would that mean they are all evil threats?
